Professor Ailsa Hart
About
Professor Ailsa Hart is a leading UK gastroenterologist and internationally recognised expert in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A Consultant at St Mark’s Hospital since 2007–2008 and Professor of Practice at Imperial College London, she directs the St Mark’s IBD Unit and plays major roles in global professional organisations including BSG, ECCO and IOIBD. Her clinical and research work spans Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, pouch disorders and colorectal-cancer surveillance, alongside major contributions in gut immunology, and the microbiome.
She co-founded and co-leads the TOpClass consortium with Mr Phil Tozer, collaborating with colleagues to advance research and improve treatment for patients with perianal Crohn’s disease globally.
