Dr Rimola is an attending consultant radiologist at Hospital Clínic Barcelona, and a lead radiologist at the IBD Unit at the same institution. He holds a PhD from the University of Barcelona, where he studied the use of magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) for detecting and grading inflammatory activity in patients with Crohn's disease. As an academic researcher, he has contributed to validating the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, accepted worldwide, to measure the luminal and perianal inflammation activity in CD. These tools have been used in research and in programs to develop new drugs.
