About

David Ballard, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Abdominal Imaging Section at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His research focuses on imaging biomarkers in inflammatory bowel disease, with particular emphasis on MRI-based assessment of perianal Crohn’s disease, as well as imaging of stricturing Crohn’s disease.

 

Dr. Ballard’s work centers on the development and application of advanced MRI techniques to characterize fistula anatomy, inflammatory activity, and disease severity, along with the evaluation of PET/MR approaches for assessing disease biology and treatment response in both perianal and ileocolic Crohn’s disease. He is a member of the Society of Abdominal Radiology’s Disease-Focused Panel on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and a participant in the TOpClass international consortium.
